Tere brings a passionate dedication to historic preservation, community service, excellent project management,   team building, building systems integration, life safety and accessibility code proficiency to every project she undertakes.

Associates:

Chris Hutson, Architect, LEED AP

Chris has been a Project Architect with Volz & Associates since 1998.  He excels at building condition assessment, code analysis, restoration programming, cost estimating, design, construction detailing, and specification writing.


Tracy Hirschman, Intern, LEED AP

Tracy first joined Volz & Associates in 1999.  She is proficient in a wide range of skills including highly accurate and detailed building documentation, CAD drafting, historic paint analysis, disaster recovery, and green building design.


Mason Moore, Intern

We welcome Mason as our newest staff member!  Mason joins us after receiving his Master of Architecture from the University of Texas.  He has his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, and has traveled extensively around the world.


Firm Profile:

Candace Volz established her historic interiors consulting firm in 1978. In 1987, John Volz joined the firm, expanding its scope of services to include architecture, architectural conservation, and restoration. Tere O’Connell joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2005.


The primary staff of Volz & Associates includes John and Candace Volz, Tere O’Connell, Chris Hutson, and Tracy Hirschman - five people who have worked together on historic restoration projects for 9 years or longer, with more than 144 years of collective experience in the field of historic preservation.


Historic preservation and existing building renovation projects constitute over 90% of Volz & Associates, Inc.’s annual work. Our extensive knowledge and specialized training provides numerous benefits to our clients and the significant buildings for which they are responsible.
