The T.B. Harris School was constructed for African American children in 1936, and named for a revered former principal.  The last class graduated in 1966, and Belton schools were integrated the following year.  The building was converted to storage use, and fell into poor condition.  The City of Belton decided to renovate the building as a community center in 2008, and work was completed by another firm.  Volz & Associates has assisted the City in resolving a few outstanding issues since the work by others was complete.
