This Classical Revival gem was constructed by the Bunker Hill Monument Association from 1901-1903.  With the exception of some changes to the interior floor plan, it is largely intact today.

When originally built, it functioned as a commemorative building with displays of memorabilia related to the Battle of Bunker Hill.  Over the years, there have been various interior changes related to visitor use of the Granite Lodge- addition and removal of restroom facilities, ticket booths, guide stations, etc.

“Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.”     - Joseph Warren, Boston Massacre Oration, 1775
